K-pop band TWICE reveals its daring side on new album, Eyes Wide Open
TWICE, a popular One thousand-popular grouping known for its catchy lyrics and colourful aesthetics, has released its second total album, a drove that invites listeners into the ring's more daring side.
Eyes Wide Open, released Mon (Oct 26), features thirteen songs, including the atomic number 82 single I Can't Stop Me.
The all-female group, which debuted in 2022 and has achieved success in both Japan and South korea, saturday downwardly with The Associated Press ahead of the release to talk nearly the projection.
Nayeon, one of the band'due south nine members, said that I Can't Stop Me has a "retro" sound, with lyrics well-nigh "non being able to command ourselves crossing the line".
The track sees TWICE explore the boundaries between expert and bad, revealing a more than daring side of the band – a departure from its happy-go-lucky fashion.
When asked to talk over boundaries they wouldn't cross in their personal lives, the group – which has Japanese, Due south Korean and Taiwanese members, all in their early 20s – didn't elaborate.
"This is a difficult question!" Jihyo said with a cheeky smile.
K-pop bands like TWICE are historic for their tightly synchronised dance moves and spotless aesthetics, often enduring years of preparation on the way to distinction. The demand for perfection never ends – leaving no room for mistakes, either onstage or off.
Group member Sana said balancing a hectic schedule with onstage perfection wasn't easy when TWICE beginning started.
"Nosotros had so many venues nosotros needed to perform at, merely we had very limited time to prepare," she said. "At that place were lots of moments when we'd exercise for three hours twice a day and get on stage correct away. So preparing and having to requite perfect performances to and then many people in such a rushed time weighed on u.s.."
"We could've washed better and wanted to do amend," she added. "It was hard to go through moments of not having control."
But with half a decade of experience under their belt, the band is now allowed more than breathing room.
"Nosotros don't endeavor as well hard to be perfect," said Tzuyu, the band's Taiwanese singer. "I think I try to relish the moment instead of beingness so harsh on myself."
As K-popular goes global thanks to bands similar BTS and Blackpink, TWICE has its eyes on the United states of america market place, planning to release English language-language songs in the nearly future.
